Cylindrical lapping

Cylindrical lapping is a subgroup of lapping and is based on the same technique. The difference is that  other kinematics than classical lapping with planetary kinematics are used.

The cylindrical work pieces are processed on the outer surface. The work pieces are cylindrical and run between two rollers. Loose abrasive is used in cylindrical lapping.

This process is good for improving the surface quality on pre-ground parts. Only a few microns will be removed and a highly accurate, reflecting surface will be produced.
